The fund was raised by public subscription and was transferred to the University of Wales as Trustee to perpetuate the memory of the late Thomas Edward Ellis MA, Warden of the Guild of Graduates (1896-1899), and a Member of Parliament representing Merioneth during the years 1886-1899.

 

Eligibility

  • Engaged in research into the language, literature, history and antiquities of Wales and Monmouthshire and the publication of the results of such research
  • Persons receiving grants shall preferably, but not necessarily, be members of a Welsh University

Additional Information

  • Persons receiving a grant in aid of the publication of any work shall include an acknowledgement of their indebtedness to the Thomas Ellis Memorial Fund.
